Here's a quick guide to answering simplification questions.
  • Rule of Fundamental Simplicity
It is important to understand BODMAS, which is the basic rule to follow in simplification, to solve simplification problems. The rule specifies the correct order in which operations in a mathematical expression should be performed to obtain the correct value.

To simplify an expression, follow the steps below in order:
  • B- Bracket
  • Order (This indicates square roots, power, etc.)
  • D - Division
  • M - Multiplication
  • A - Addition
  • S - Subtraction

According to the above rule, you need to solve the operations present in the brackets and the order for brackets is () first, followed by {}, and finally []. This should always be adhered to by you.
After you've completed the operations inside the brackets, you can concentrate on exponents like roots and forces.

From the left to the right, the exponents should be followed by division and then multiplication. Multiplication and division are on an equal footing.
The last operations to concentrate on are subtractions and additions. These two, including multiplication and division, are of equal rank and are performed from left to right.

Simple Simplification Tips
Now that you've learned about the BODMAS law, here's a priority list to help you answer the questions more quickly.
Next, finish the expressions within the bracket.

When working with a phrase that includes division, multiplication, subtraction, and addition, the element should come first, followed by division or multiplication.
The order in which subtraction and addition expressions are solved is determined by the sign that appears first.

The symbol should come first in an expression with of and division signs, followed by division.
Division and multiplication should be done first and, in the order, given, starting from the left side to the right, for expressions that require all four operations.

Number Equations: When solving expressions of decimal numbers, an approximation can be used to make the calculation easier and faster. This entails rounding the decimal to the nearest integer and simplifying the equation with the new values obtained from the conversion.

Approximation of Square Roots:
Here are some helpful hints for simplifying square roots:
  • To begin, factor the number contained within the square root.
  • Cross all factors and add a factor to the left part of the square root for a factor that occurs twice.
  • Cross two factors, add the factor to the left of the symbol and keep the third factor within the square root sign for a factor that occurs three times.
  • You should treat factors that occur at 4, 6, and other times as 2, 3, and so on.
  • Multiply the numbers on the outside of the square root, then the numbers on the inside.
  • Simplify the numerator first, then the denominator in a square root fraction.
  • The simple tips mentioned above will help you solve problems correctly and avoid negative labeling. It is easier to understand the answer if you use formulas, hints, and tricks.
