 Age Limit of PPSC Eligibility 2022

The detailed information about the PPSC age limit including the exceptions have been given below, please note that this is as per the 2020-21 cycle.

  • The minimum age limit for applying for the PPSC exam is 21 years.
  • The maximum age limit for applying for the PPSC exam is 37.

PPSC Age Relaxations

Candidates belonging to the different categories will be given relaxation in terms of the upper age limit. The PPSC Age Relaxations have been given below:

Minimum Age- 21 years

Maximum age – 28 years

Government Employees of:

  • Punjab Government
  • Other State Governments
  • Government of India
  • Board/Corporations/Public Sector Undertakings

Upper age limit – 45 years

Note: No age relaxation is permissible for Punjab Police Service

Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes of Punjab State only (in case of Punjab Police Service and Punjab Prisons Service)

Upper age limit – 33 years

Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes of Punjab State only (in case of other services)

Upper Age limit – 42 years

Ex-servicemen of Punjab Domicile

Deduct the Duration of service in the Union Armed Forces from his actual age.

If the resultant age does not exceed Max. age limit prescribed for direct appointment to such a post in the Service Rules concerned by more than three years, he will be deemed to satisfy the condition regarding age limit.

Women with Widows, Divorced women, and other Categories

Upper age limit- 42 years

Note: NO age relaxation is permissible for women in case of Punjab Police Services and Punjab Prisons Service.

Physically Handicapped of Punjab State only

Upper age limit- 47 years

Note: NO age relaxation is permissible in case of Punjab Police Service and Punjab Prisons Service.

Physical Standards for PPSC PSC

If you've applied for a job as a Deputy Superintendent of Police or a Deputy Superintendent of Jails (Grade-II)/ District Probation Officer (Jails), you'll be required to perform a variety of tasks, including Male contestants will compete in a 1600 meter race: The women's event will be an 800-meter run with a time limit of 07 minutes 30 seconds (only one attempt). 4 minutes and 45 seconds to complete (only one attempt).

  • In the Long Jump, male candidates must jump at least 3.60 meters (three attempts), while female candidates must jump at least 3.00 meters (three attempts) (Three attempts only)
  • Male applicants must leap at least 1.15 meters three times, while female applicants must jump at least 1.00 meters three times (three attempts)
  • Only male applicants will be required to ascend a 2.0-meter vertical rope from the ground (Three attempts only).
  • Only female candidates are required to compete in the Shuttle, which involves running five times in 20 seconds between two parallel lines 10 meters apart (one attempt only)
  • Each paper will be 180 minutes long and will be descriptive. Candidates who are blind or visually impaired will be allowed an extra 30 minutes to complete each paper. Each of the seven papers must be attempted.

Who is Eligible to Avail a Scribe for the PPSC Exam?

Only the candidates with the following impairment can avail a scribe:

  • Blind: The blind are those who suffer from either of the following conditions: - Total absence of sight. Visual acuity not exceeding 6/60 or 20/200 (Snellen) in the better eye with correcting lenses. Limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of 20 degrees or worse.
  • Candidates with Locomotors Disability and Cerebral Palsy where dominant (writing) extremity is affected to the extent of slowing the performance of function (minimum of 40% impairment)
  • The Scribe should not have an academic qualification of 10+2.
  • Persons with a disability will be required to submit the following documents to the office of PPSC in person 30 days before the written examination.
    • Disability Certificate from the office of the Civil Surgeon.
    • For the provision of a scribe, an affidavit is registered as per the specimen is attached.

Note: Extra time (20 Minutes per hour) will be allowed to the candidates who applied for a scribe.

What is the Educational Qualification under PPSC Eligibility Criteria?

The detailed PPSC eligibility criteria for educational qualification has been given below, please note that this is as per the 2020-21 cycle.

  • The candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institution.
  • The candidate may be permitted to take a preliminary examination while studying for the qualifying degree. However, the candidate shall be required to produce proof of qualifying the degree course for being eligible to take the Main Competitive Examination during that year.
  • No candidate shall be eligible for appearing in the Preliminary Competitive Examination unless he/she has passed the Matriculation Examination with Punjabi as one of the compulsory or elective subjects or any other equivalent examination in the Punjabi language, which may be specified by the Government from time to time.
  • For the purpose of eligibility for the exam, the expression "recognized university" or "institution" shall have the same meaning, as assigned to it in the Punjab Civil Services (General and Common Conditions of Service) Rules, 1994.

PPSC PCS Nationality 2022

The details of the PPSC eligibility criteria of nationality has been given below:

  • A candidate should be a:
    • Citizen of India
    • Citizen of Nepal
    • Subject of Bhutan
    • Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the Ist January. 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India
    • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India
  • Provided that a candidate other than the candidates possessing Indian nationality shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Competent Authority as notified Punjab Civil Services.
