Delhi Police Constable Exam, is held every year to select and recruit the most deserving candidates in Delhi Police Force. The Delhi Police Constable Recruitment and Exam is organised by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), it is a government organisation that looks after the recruitment of deserving candidates into various ministries and departments of the government. Delhi Police Constable 2020 has declared it’s commencement with great number of vacancies for girls. 

The Delhi Police Recruitment involve the following categories:

• Constable (Executive)- Female
• Constable (Executive)- Male
• Constable (Executive) Serviceman(Commando)- Male
• Constable (Executive) Ex-serviceman (others)- Male

Delhi Police Constable Eligibility Requirements

• The candidate male/female need to have completed there class 12th from a recognised Institute.
• The age for both male and female candidates should be between 18 to 25 years. There is some relaxation based on the categories of the candidates.
• The divorced, widowed and judicially separated unmarried women are eligible for 5 years of age relaxation.

Delhi Police Constable exam consists of three stages, namely, Written Paper, Physical Endurance Test and Medical test. Mentioned below are standards to qualify in the physical endurance test for men and women:

Physical standards for Men
 
 Candidate's age  1600 meters race  High Jump  Long Jump
 Upto 30 years  7 minutes  3 ½ feet  12 ½ feet
 Between 30-40 years  8 minutes  3 ¼ feet  11 ½ feet
 Above 40 years  9 minutes  3 feet  10 ½ feet

Physical standards for women
 
 Candidate’s age  800 meters race  High Jump  Long Jump
 Upto 30 years  5 minutes  3 feet  9 feet
 Between 30-40 years  6 minutes  2 ½ feet  8 feet
 Above 40 years  7 minutes  2 ¼ feet  7 feet

Other Physical Requirements for both men and women
 
 Height for Women  157 cms  5 cm relaxation for certain categories
 Height for Men  165 cms  5 cm relaxation for certain categories
 Chest size for Men  78-82 cms  5 cm relaxation for certain categories

Staff Selection Commission, SSC has announced a total of 5846 vacancies out of which 1,944 posts are for women constable (executive), 3,433 post for male constable (executive), 226 posts for male constable Servicemen and 243 posts for male constable Ex-servicemen.

Delhi Police has initiated various schemes to promote and expand women forces in the department. In the year 2019 Delhi Police introduced a 16 women constable force and assigned 8 pink coloured two-wheelers for easy patrolling. The force insured easy and safe availability of help to the women of city through this women force, with whom the fellow females can share their issues without any hesitation.

While in 2018 Delhi Police introduced India’s First Women SWAT (Special Weapons And Tactics) team. The SWAT team consists of 26 well trained female constables. These 26 women went through 15 months of rigorous training period which trained them in unarmed combat, jungle operation, ambush, counter ambush, VIP security and basic knowledge about explosives. These are the great initiatives undertaken by the Department of Delhi Police.

Salary of Delhi Police Constables

The Delhi Police Constables salary is divided as mentioned below by the 7th pay commission:

• Rs. 2000 Grade Pay
• Rs. 25,500 Basic Pay
• Around Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 38,000 of aggregate monthly Salary

The Delhi Police Constable Salary also include various allowances like dearness allowance, transport allowance, house rent allowance and other allowances.
