Tenses are verbs that establish the time period in which an event or action occurred. Tenses are segmented into three categories on the basis of the time of happening. These are Past Tense, Present Tense, and Future Tense. A Tense is a verb form used to signify the time of an occurrence associated with the time of speech. It indicates the ending of a task or the continuance of one.

What is the Future Tense?

The Future Tense involves any action or occurrence that is programmed to take place in the future. Future Tense, just like other Tenses, can be recognized by the Verb form and auxiliaries employed.
 

Types of Future Tense

There are four types of Future Tense-
  • Simple Future Tense
  • Future Continuous Tense
  • Future Perfect Tense
  • Future Perfect Continuous Tense
 

Simple Future Tense 

Simple Future Tense is used during the explanation of an action or occurrence that will occur in the future. It reflects assurance of something that will happen. 

The Rule for Simple Future Tense is-
Subject + will/shall + v1+ Object

The following are some instances of Simple Future Tense-
  • We’ll relocate to London soon.
  • The judge will arrive at the courtroom within some minutes.
 

Future Continuous Tense

The Future Continuous Tense depicts an occurrence or action that will most probably take place in the future and go on for a prearranged period of time. It’s composed of the words ‘will+ be+ the present participle (V1+ ing)’. 

The Rule for Future Continuous Tense is-
Subject +will +be+ the present participle (v1+ing)

The following Example shows the use of Future Continuous Tense-
  • I’ll be at the Railway station by 6 pm in the evening.
  • They’ll play badminton at this time the coming day. 
 

Future Perfect Tense 

The Future Perfect Tense describes the occurrence or action that will occur at a future time and date. The Tense is formed by merging the words “will” and “have” with the verb’s past participle. 

The Rule for Future Perfect Tense is-
Subject + will/shall have + past particle 

The following Example shows the use of the Future Perfect Tense -
  • I plan to finish my assignment by Wednesday 
  • Before her mother arrives, Reena will have prepared the dinner.
 

Future Perfect Continuous Tense

The Future Perfect Continuous Tense indicates an occurrence or action that goes on until a coming date. It’s composed of the participle will + have + been + present. 

The Rule for Future Perfect Continuous Tense is-
Subject + will + have been + V1 + the verb’s present participle (V1 + ing). 

The following Example shows the use of the Future Perfect Tense-
  • She’ll have played for an hour the coming day.
  • She'll have been watching TV.

Future Tense 
The Future Tense describes the future occurrence or action that hasn’t taken place yet but may occur in the future. It’s a future Tense version change of the verb that doesn’t prevail at the present moment. 

The following Example shows the use of Future Tense-
  • She’ll be learning how to play piano. 
  • In twenty minutes, the train will depart.
