Synthesis of Aspirin

One of the most popular Chemistry Investigatory Projects for Class 12 students is the making of aspirin, a common name for a compound, named acetylsalicylic acid. It is mainly used as a painkiller in our daily lives. Aspirin is derived from Salicylic acid, a natural product, having its roots from the bark extracts of the Willow family of plants.

It was earlier employed as a home remedy for curing fever and headaches. Salicylic acid can irritate your stomach and is bitter.

Adsorption

Adsorption is a process of transferring a substance from fluid bulk to a solid surface due to the forces of chemical bonds.

In this process, gaseous or liquid particles attach to a solid surface called adsorbate and create a molecular or atomic adsorbate film.
Adsorption is generally a reversible process. In most cases, it is explained at equilibrium, which measures the amount equal to the amount of substance joined on the given surface and application in the fluid. It is a famous concept among students for Chemistry Investigatory Projects for Class 12.

Sterilization of water using bleaching powder

Objective: This experiment helps examine the quantity of bleaching powder needed for the sterilization or purification of various samples of water.

Theory: Calcium hypochlorite [Ca(ClO)] or bleaching powder is a very frequent way to sterilize drinking water with exact scientific details. By adding five drops of bleaching powder to two liters of water, the chemical sets for 30 minutes which can then make it drinkable.
Bleaching powder also reacts with decaying levels and has fewer health threats than other chemical compound solutions such as THMs.

Requirements: 10% KI solution, 250ml measuring flask, glass wool, weight box, different samples of water, Burette, titration flask, Sodium thiosulfate solution (0.1 N Na2S2O3), 100ml graduated cylinder glazed tile, bleaching Powder, starch solution.

Quality of Presence of Casein in Different Samples of Milk

Objective: To examine the quantity of the presence of Casein in different samples of milk.

Theory: Caseins are proteins present in milk. It is the most common form is Sodium caseinate.
When we keep milk outside for a long period, the bacteria found in it transform it into lactic acid, making it sour. The Casein of milk begins precipitating in acidic circumstances.

Requirements: Filter paper, Conical flask, different samples of milk, funnel, Watch glass, Glass rod, Measuring cylinder (100mL), 1% acetic acid.

Paper Chromatography

Objective: Two determine ink components in black pens and markers using paper chromatology.

Theory: Chromatology is employed to divide the components of complex combinations. Ink manufacturers blend different colors to make new ones. Paper chromatology assists in separating different components by attracting them to water or alcohol.

Requirements: 90% isopropyl alcohol, 100 mL beaker, 500 mL beaker, Different black pens, and markers, Mini binder clips (2), Wooden splints.

Effect of potassium bisulfate as a food preservative

Objective: This experiment aims to determine the effect of potassium bisulfate as a food preservative under diverse circumstances.

Theory: Different food materials go through normal changes because of environmental factors, such as time, temperature, and enzymes, which make them inconsumable or perished. The use of potassium bisulfite (KHSO3) can conserve food materials by examining its concentration under different conditions.

Requirements: Beaker, pestle and mortar, glass bottles, peeler, fresh fruits, knife, balance, potassium bisulfite, and sugar.

Surface chemistry colloidal solutions

Objective: To determine the Surface chemistry of colloidal solutions.

Theory: Collides are homogeneous solutions comprising separate phrases. The separated fees comprise particles that are equally distributed in the constant phase. Some colloids display the phenomenon of the Tyndall effect, making them transparent. It means the scattering of light by colloidal particles. Gums are released by stems of trees and are natural polysaccharides. On heating with water, this soluble substance gets hydrolyzed and defers various monosaccharides, leading to a colloidal solution.

Requirements: 100 mL beaker, 90% isopropyl alcohol, 500 mL beaker, Different black pens, and markers, Mini binder clips (2), Wooden splints.
