The SSC (Staff Selection Commission) conducts various exams every year to target different levels of government job posts. Some of the well-known Staff Selection Commission exams are as follows:  


1. Staff Selection Commission General Duty Constable Exam: 

 Conducted for filling the vacancies for the Constable General Duty (GD) and Rifleman GD posts, NIA, and SSF posts. 


2. Staff Selection Commission Junior Engineer (SSCJE) Exam:  

It is the toughest exam which is  conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) for Engineers with backgrounds in Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical branches can give this exam. 


3. Staff Selection Commission Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) Exam: 

This exam is conducted for selecting Higher Secondary qualified students of 10+2 level candidates for several government offices for the post of Lower Division Clerks (LDC), Postal Assistants, and Data Entry Operators (DEO) in various departments. 


4. Staff Selection Commission Multi-Tasking Staff Examination: 

This exam is national-level exam which is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission, and this examination is conducted for selecting candidates in General Central Service Group-C non-gazetted, non-ministerial posts in various ministries in various central government ministries and departments.


5. Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam: 

SSCCGL exam is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission to select the most qualified candidate for the position of Group B and Group C. The SSC Conducts this examination every year to fill up the openings for Income Tax Inspectors, Assistants in Ministries, Sub-Inspectors in CBI, etc.

Two stages in Staff Selection Commission CGL are Tier-1 and Tier-2

2. SSC CGL Exam Pattern for Tier 2 

The SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam will be conducted in 2 phases 

1. Paper 1  

2. Paper 2.  

In the SSC CGL Exam Paper I is compulsory for all the posts whereas Paper II is compulsory only for candidates who apply for the post of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO).

Eligibility Criteria 

The eligibility criteria for SSC exams are followed as: 

  • Educational Qualification: For CGL, a graduate degree is obligatory, at the same time as CHSL requires a 10 + 2 qualification. The JE exam requires a degree or diploma in the applicable engineering discipline. 

  • Age Limit: The age limit is usually tiered from 18 to 32 years, depending on the put up and the class of the candidate. Age relaxation is furnished for candidates from reserved classes.
