The Uttar Pradesh Exam Regulatory Authority (ERA) has issued the official announcement for the Uttar Pradesh Teachers Entrance Test (UPTET). The application procedure for UPTET is now ongoing. Candidates who want to teach in public schools must apply for the exam online. It is recommended that candidates read the entire UPTET eligibility criteria before submitting their applications. The minimal requirement for UPTET is a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognised University/Institute.

UPTET Eligibility: Age limit & number of attempts

To apply for UPTET 2022, you must be at least 18 years old. For UPTET 2022, there is no upper age limit. You can retake the exam as many times as you like till the certificate's validity expires so you can renew it if you want to enhance your UPTET score.

UPTET Eligibility: Educational qualification

The UPTET exam includes two levels: paper I for Primary Teachers (Classes 1 to 5) and paper II for Upper Primary Teachers (Classes 6 to 8). Candidates who have completed D.El. ED from NIOS via ODL Mode are eligible to apply for UPTET 2022. Their appeal to be eligible for UPTET 2022 has been accepted by the High Court. All NIOS D.el.ed (ODL Mode) candidates can apply online via the official website.

UPTET Eligibility Criteria 2022 for Primary Teacher (1st to 5th)


All the candidates should have completed any one of the criteria given below to be eligible for applying UPTET Paper 1:

1 Graduation (or its equivalent) and passed or appearing in any discipline two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (DElEd) in the final year or passed recognised by NCTE with UP Administration
2 Graduation (or its equivalent) passed Basic Training Certificate (BTC) from distance education as a Shiksha Mitra in the final year or passed
3 Graduation (or its equivalent) passed two-year Diploma in Education (D.Ed) as a Shiksha Mitra in the final year or passed/ two-year Diploma in Education (D.Ed)- Special Education recognised by RCI
4 graduation or post-graduation with a minimum of 50% marks Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) recognised by NCTE
5 graduation or post-graduation with a minimum of 45% marks Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) recognised by NCTE
6 Graduation (or its equivalent) passed BTC/BTC Urdu in the final year or passed recognised by NCTE with UP Administration
7 Graduation (or its equivalent) passed diploma in teaching from Aligarh Muslim University
8 Graduation (or its equivalent) passed degree of Moavill-E-Urdu before August 08, 1997(For Urdu Teachers)
9 Senior Secondary (or it is equivalent) with at least 50% marks passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)

UPTET Eligibility Criteria 2022 for Upper Primary Teacher (6th to 8th)

1- How many papers am I supposed to give to clear the UPTET exam?

Candidates planning to teach students classes 1 to 5 need to qualify for UPTET paper 1. Candidates planning to teach classes 6 to 8 need to qualify for UPTET Paper 2. Candidates planning to teach classes 1 to 8 need to qualify for both papers.

2- Is UPTET conducted in online mode?

No, UPTET is conducted in offline mode pen and paper based).

3- How many attempts can I get to write the UPTET exam?

There is no limit on the total attempts a candidate can get to write the UPTET exam. But to give the exam, candidates need to meet the minimum eligibility criteria for the exam.

4- What is the minimum percentage required to get qualified for UPTET Recruitment?

Candidates giving the UPTET Exam must have obtained at least 60% to get qualified for UPTET Recruitment.

5- Can 12th pass apply for UPTET?

 If you are only 12th pass out, then you can apply for the primary stage of the CTET exam after completing a 2-year diploma in Elementary Education.
