India-Bhutan Tax Inspectors without Borders (TIWB) Programme launched.

Tax Inspectors Without Borders (TIWB) happens to be a joint project by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). India was chosen as the Partner Jurisdiction by Bhutan and it has provided with the taxation experts for the same.
India in partnership with the UNDP and TIWB Secretariat plans to support Bhutan in strengthening its tax management by sharing it’s technical expertise and best audit practices.
The programme focuses in the area of International Taxation and Transfer Pricing and is expected to be of approximately 24 months.

S&P slashes India’s growth forecast for FY22 to 9.5%

The Global Ratings Agency S&P has slashed India’s expected growth rate for the Fiscal Year 2022 to 9.5%. Earlier the agency had predicted a growth rate of 11%. It has also projected India’s growth at 7.8% for the fiscal year ending 2023.

Projections by other rating agencies

  • RBI has also slashed India’s growth forecast to 9.5 % for FY22, from 10.5 % that was predicted earlier.

  • According to Moody, it expects Indian economy to grow at 9.3 per cent for  FY22.

  • World Bank too has downgraded its forecast to 8.3% from the earlier estimate of 10.1%.

Ex Infosys CEO SD Shibu Lal has been appointed as the Chairman of three member task force that has been set up with the aim of bringing major bureaucratic reforms through “Mission Karmayogi” .The other members of the task force are- Govind Iyer and Pankaj Bansal.
For the effective roll out of the mission, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) that has been named as Karmayogi Bharat will be set up as a Non-Profit Company under the section 8 of Companies Act, 2013. It will be a 100% government-owned body.

Mission Karmayogi- The National Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building (NPCSCB) was started with the objective to reform and make the Indian Civil Servants future ready by making them more creative, constructive, imaginative, innovative, proactive, professional, progressive, energetic, enabling, transparent and technology-enabled.

India’s first Indigenous Aircraft Carrier-1 (IAC-1)  also nicknamed as INS Vikrant- is the biggest ship made in India. It has been built by Cochin Shipyard Limited, at the cost of Rs 20,000 crore, which will hand it over to Indian Navy by 2022. Presently India has only one aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya that is of Russian Origin.

The Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar on 25 June released the detailed report of LiDAR(Light Detection and Ranging) based survey of forest areas in Ten states. The report maps out water requirement within these forest areas.
The Ten States include forest areas in Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Nagaland, and Tripura.

LiDAR is an acronym for Light Detection and Ranging. It is a remote sensing technology that is used to determine ranges by hitting the target object with a laser.

 

World’s first GMO Rubber Planted in Assam

The world’s first Genetically Modified (GM) rubber plant that has been developed by Rubber Research Institute of India(based in Kerala) was planted in Guwahati, Assam . It has been modified to survive in the weather conditions of the Northeast.
The plant carries an additional copy of gene MnSOD(manganese-containing superoxide dismutase) to help it survive in the harsh winter conditions.

The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA)’s technical committee has given the nod to convert the status of Ramgarh Vishdhari wildlife sanctuary to a tiger reserve. It will be the fourth Tiger Reserve of Rajasthan and 52nd tiger reserve of the country.
The other three tiger reserves in Rajasthan are- Ranthambore, Sariska and Mukundra tiger reserves.

Goa has become the first Rabies Free state of the country. It has not registered even a single case of Rabies in past three years. The target to control Rabies in the state was achieved under the Mission Rabies Project that was funded by the central government.

Rabies- It is a viral disease that is transmitted through the bites of Rabid animal. It is caused by the Rabies Virus that is present in the saliva of infected animals.
