AFCAT Salary 2023

Candidates who clear the AFCAT exam join the Indian Air Force Academy for their training. During the training period, cadets are given a stipend of Rs. 56,100 per month (Starting pay in Level 10). The duration of the training is 74 weeks for cadets of flying and technical branches and 52 weeks for cadets of non-technical branches. The stipend is paid during the last year of the training period.

AFCAT Salary Structure

After being commissioned as officers on successful completion of the training, the candidates are paid salary in the following order. The salary varies for each branch of the Air Force. As per the 7th Pay Commission, the annual package for different branches is as follows:
Branch Salary Package
Flying Branch Rs. 8 - 10 Lakhs
Ground Duty (Tech) Rs. 7-9 Lakhs
Ground Duty (Non-Tech) Rs. 7-9 Lakhs

AFCAT Salary: Job Profile

Candidates can opt for Flying, Ground DutyTechnical or Ground Duty Non-Technical Branch while applying for AFCAT Exam. It is important to know the job profile under these three branches which are as follows:

AFCAT Flying Branch Job Profile

  • Operate and look after fighter planes with combat.
  • Transportation of material and ammunition tasks

AFCAT Salary: Promotions and Career Growth

Promotions in the Indian Air Force are based on the performance and years of service of the officers. The rank structure in the Indian Air Force is as follows:

  • On completing their training, cadets are commissioned as Flying Officers in the Indian Air Force
  • On completing 3 years of service, the flying officers are promoted to Flying Lieutenant on passing the department test.
  • Promotion to the rank of Squadron Leader is after 6 years of service
  • Promotions to other ranks are on the basis of vacancies and performance of the officers
  • Technical officers who are engineers are given the seniority of 2 years for the purpose of promotion and pay which will be compared to the Indian Air Force officers
  • It is mandatory for all officers to attend the C’ examination which consists of General Knowledge and post concerning topics for Departmental promotion and to seek promotion in ranks.
